Retirement for Individuals
There is an ongoing trend in American business away from pension-type plans and toward self-funded retirement. In a recent Retirement Confidence Survey (RCS), published by Employee Benefit Research Institute, we see a substantial number of workers have been shifted from the pension system to defined contribution plans such as 401(k). However, less than a quarter of those affected indicate that they will save more as a result of these changes. In the current economic climate, many people have lost faith in the markets and reduced or stopped contributions to their employer-sponsored retirement plans. At the same time, we are living longer in retirement and paying much higher health care costs. As a result of these developments, Americans are generally under-prepared for retirement.
At Wales Investments, we are committed to planning for self-sufficiency. We work to help our clients achieve financial independence, so the decision to work or not past retirement age becomes one of personal satisfaction and fulfillment, rather than economic necessity. Our strategy involves strategic deployment of assets, including real estate, stock options and traditional retirement assets, to facilitate continuous progress toward clearly articulated objectives. We partner with our clients to develop a broad range of goals, including philanthropy and estate planning, and employ specific and coordinated strategies to achieve these objectives. |
